VHF Mid-Band

Good for long range communications in hilly areas. Mid-Band systems will normally provide extended coverage in difficult terrain areas, however the signal quality can be severly affeted where used in built up areas.

VHF High Band

Excellent performing frequency range with good range and not being overly affected in built up areas. The availability of VHF channels in urban areas is becoming restricted due to high use and crowdign of the available spectrum.

UHF Band

Excellent performance in built up areas with signals literally bouncing of buildings to provide radio coverage in areas where VHF High Band will not perform. Due to the higher operating frequency, UHF is not as effective as VHF for long range communications although overcast days will see long range capabilities.
